What is a doula?
From Dona international:
Postpartum Doula: “A postpartum doula offers evidence-based information and gives emotional, physical, and educational support solely. A postpartum doula cares for the parents and the family in their home (or virtually) in the first few weeks following the birth, adoption, or addition to family”
Birth doula: “doula accompanies their client, providing emotional and physical support, suggests comfort measures, and provides support and suggestions for their partner. providing pre and post party educational support”
Some of my personal skills:
- 4 years as a nanny to multiple children, have some tips and tricks to help navigate big feelings and adding children to families
- Orginization support
- Some meal prep and resources to how to help your community support you through food
- Adoption and foster care support
- Infant and toddler support
- Some lactation hours, can help navigate the fist few weeks and know when to look for more support
- A helping hand
- Baby wearing tips and tricks
- experience with children with disabilities
- Moderate Spanish speaking
- A love and respect different cultural choices and excited to help you decide what’s best for your family
- Night support for lactation and transitions
Whether you are welcoming a infant or your seventh baby into the home… It can be a great comfort to have support while your family transitions… I would love to support those who are also pursuing adoption… Teen moms or single parents… no matter what stage of life you are in sometimes we just need a little bit of extra help and an extra set of hands… Happy to serve however I can… Feel free to reach out and perhaps I am the right fit for you.
