A Glimpse Of Humanity
When I painted this painting in 2015 I didn’t think much of it. It took me a long time, I spent time with Jesus while painting each face individually. I knew Jesus had some plans but I didn’t know for sure what it was. I saw the face of the church, the orphaned, and the weak in this painting. I saw the sadness and the joy that children walk through. I also saw the beauty as they grew and became the women of mighty valor and strength that would one day be a huge part of the body of christ. But why, why put these faces together, why in this way. As an artist you would think I would have more answers and to be honest I just don’t. I only know what He said when I started this painting, that He wanted me to show how he saw the bride, the bride of christ, before she is old and as she is growing into her identity. I think about Ruth, and how she was grafted into the story of God, she trusted Naomi to take her home, and decided to serve Her. I think about Mary who carried the son of God in her womb, and nurtured Him as a child, then watched Him hanging on that tree for us. I think about Mary who broke the alabaster jar on Jesus’s feet, her depth of understanding in who was sitting before her. I think about Sarah trusting that she would bear a son, Deborah with mighty faith, and the five women with enough oil for their lamps as they wait on the Bridegroom. I pray that as you see this painting you see the child you were and the one that he created you to be, that you would wake up to your true identity in christ. You are so loved and treasured beyond measure.
This painting is POWERFUL and your description of it is more so! Exceptional work, both painted and written. Thank you for taking the time to listen to God and share it with the rest of us. This painting deeply moves me.
